buried in the dark cloth of the world,
waiting for the right hands
to find it again.

have you met your match?

the one who looks at you
as if they have seen your flame before,
long before this life,
long before the body,
when we were only light
searching for somewhere to land.

there is an old memory
inside every fire.

it hums when it wakes.
it leans toward what it once knew.

and when the moment comes —
when wood meets sulfur,
when friction meets breath —

something ancient
returns.

this is not the beginning.

finding each other again
across the long night,
whispering through heat,

i know you.

i have always known you.
